REVERSIBLE TRANSLOCATION OF GLUT4 VESICLES BY INSULIN-DEPENDENT E3-LIGASES

Insulin secretion induces the activation of the insulin-signaling pathway resulting in a translocation of GLUT4 vesicles to the plasma membrane facilitating glucose influx into the cell. The project will be focused on the characterization of insulin-dependent activation of E3 ligases and will decipher how protein ubiquitylation modulates the localization of signaling molecules and cellular vesicles. The project will use cutting-edge mass spectrometry and bioinformatics to show that reversible PTMs and transient protein-protein interactions are associated with changes of the GLUT4 localization after insulin stimulation.

"I am Luisa and I studied biochemistry at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg. Proteomic data analysis is a central aspect of my PhD which aims to characterise the spatial proteome of muscle-junction-tendon. This requires sophisticated method development including sample preparation, LC-MS/MS setups, as well as the downstream bioinformatics."

Theresa Bock

Graduated in November 2023

EMail: tbock2[at]uni-koeln.de

"My name is Theresa and I studied Biology and Biochemistry in Cologne. In my master’s program, I focused my studies on protein biochemistry which eventually broad me to the Krüger lab where I am working on a mitochondrial protein in cardiac and skeletal muscle, predominantly by using mass spectrometry-based approaches."
