REGULATION OF CLUH RECRUITMENT TO RNA GRANULES

Post-transcriptional regulation of the expression of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial proteins is still poorly understood. The evolutionary conserved CLUH (clustered mitochondrial homolog) protein binds a large subset of mRNAs encoding mitochondrial proteins involved in oxidative phosphorylation, the TCA cycle, beta-oxidation, and amino acid degradation. CLUH plays a crucial role in stabilizing these mRNAs and promoting their translation, thereby modulating mitochondrial metabolism. This project will address the dynamic localization of CLUH to RNA granules and potential regulatory mechanisms  by using advanced microscopy and proteomics data.
